Roganie Govender

Roganie Govender is consultant speech and language therapist at University College London Hospital, Head & Neck Cancer Centre. Specialist clinical interests include the assessment and management of dysphagia in the head and neck population, as well as all aspects of laryngectomy rehabilitation. Worked clinically in teaching hospitals in South Africa and in various parts of the UK. Undertook clinical observerships at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York and the Medical University of South Carolina, USAReceived advanced training in surgical voice restoration in Indianapolis, with Dr Eric Blom, and in Amsterdam, with Prof Frans Hilgers. Roganie is currently on a secondment undertaking a PhD funded by the National Institute of Health Research. Her current research interests involve exploring the use of behaviour change strategies in optimising clinical interventions. Roganie has published and presented on various topics in her field both nationally and internationally. She has also taught on graduate and post-graduate training courses in the UK and abroad. She has been an active member of a number of RCSLT and other working groups, contributing to guidance and policy documents for the profession within the UK.
